<RANT>Okay, so this is an update about the DSLR camera I'm getting. First off... Let me start by saying don't every by anything from:
Millenium Camera (www.milleniumcamera.com)
Broadway Photo (www.broadwayphoto.com or www.bwayphoto.com)
eBay Seller DigitalCorp
These as with many other online stores are scammers. They bait and switch. Basically, they make you think you're buying one item, but when they make you call to verify your order they try to upsell you and if you don't buy their accessories a long with your camera, they then either put your order on backorder (even though if you call them pretending it's not you, they will tell you the have it in stock) or they will say something to the extent of "Well, the camera you ordered isn't the American version, if you want that it's $150 more." WTF!?!?!? They don't state any of this on their websites before you order. They also grossly overprice their accessories, and lie to you about accessories you need. They say that the battery that your camera comes with only lasts about 10-20 minutes, while on the other hand the manufacturer says that they last much MUCH longer. They charge up to $300 for a memory card that would normally cost $80. Okay, so then they cancel your order without asking as well. When I called to ask how much longer my camera would be on backorder for they told me 2-3 weeks, after being told that the earliest possible ship date was that day. I called back to cancel my order and the rep told me they had already canceled it on my previous phone call. WTF? So then I fell for another bait and switch website, and the same damn thing with this scam happened. The damn rep hung up on me after canceling my order at my request and didn't even leave me time to ask if I would get a confirmation e-mail.
Okay, so now I've learned to check
[link] (Rip Off Report) BEFORE ordering from a company/eBay seller. They have numerous reports on all of these companies (most of which are owned by one big company, so technically they are all one in the same). FUCKERS. </RANT>
Okay, so now that my rant is over... Let me explain a few things. My parents are the ones buying this camera for me as a gift for my b-day, but my mom gave me her card number to buy it online for myself. That's why I was the one dealing with all of this shit. So finally, my dad comes back to say that my uncle bought a DSLR camera; the Canon Rebel XTi. He told me that my uncle said it was MUCH better than the Sony DSLR-a100k but a little bit more expensive. So long story short, my parents want to get me that instead, and I'm super happy about it because I've done my research and it IS much better. I offered to pay the difference, but they didn't want me to. My dad is ordering it from Amazon.com tomorrow, being a reputable site, and shipping it to me. He says he'll get it shipped the fastest way possible (WHEEE!) so that means I'll be getting it on Monday. *crosses fingers* So in the end, I guess all things happen for a reason. If it hadn't been for these damned scammers, my dad wouldn't have had time to find out from my uncle about this better camera. Here it is:
